About Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is a location in the southernmost coast of Spain in the province of Andalucia and county of Malaga. It lies only 30 minutes from Malaga International Airport, which makes for easy access from all parts of the world. The main attraction of the Costa del Sol is the town of Marbella.

Marbella is a clean and safe town with beautiful tree lined boulevards, parks, and public gardens. It is famous for its extensive well-tended beaches and magnificent hotels and restaurants. Puerto Banus, the world-renowned yacht harbour, is five minutes out of town along the Golden Mile. Marbella has fifteen golf courses within the municipality and an equal amount just outside on both sides of the coast. With an average year-round temperature of 18.7C Marbella’c climate is unparalleled – this famous microclimate is due to its location and the protection of the mountain at the rear of the town called “La Conca” (the shell). There’s nothing truer than the town motto “A WAY OF LIFE” Marbella is a unique way of life unlikely to be found anywhere else in the world.

Within the Puerto Banus area, besides being the most famous pleasure craft harbour on the Mediterranean with over 1000 berths, one can find the superb casino and a large variety of boutiques, restaurants and a very active nightlife in the form of cocktail bars, nightclubs and the famous Valere Discothèque. Outside of town towards Malaga one can find a number of five star hotels such as the Don Carlos Hotel where the Oh! Marbella Discothèque is located. This area boasts one of the most beautiful beaches on the Costa del Sol as well as a number of the best Golf courses. On the other side of Marbella towards Gibraltar is located the famous “Golf Valley” with its championship golf courses, elegant clubs and a selection of very desirable restaurants. Further down the coast is the second “Golden Mile” a coastal area which boasts some of the most beautiful beachfront developments one could find anywhere in the world. Within this section of the Costa del Sol is located the five star Las Dunas Beach and Spa Hotel and the Kempinski Beach Hotel both of which are leaders in luxury accommodation. The Sierra Blanca ski resort is only 2 hours drive from the coast. Granada and Seville are also within reach for the aspiring traveller. Benalmadena has a lovely coast line and a lively town and a beautiful marina which is one of the most amazing ports and residential developments in the world. The rapid development of tourism in Fuengirola has given rise to a large number of places of leisure and entertainment along the promenade, which is one of the longest in Spain and is in close proximity to the marina, the sailing club, and the fishing port. Fuengirola is also endowed with the only Bio Park in the Costa del Sol, this is a cosmopolitan town and a favourite tourist destination. Torremolinos is only 4km from Malaga International Airport, there are many activities to be perused by visitors and as Benalmadena is geographically joined to Torremolinos the Puerto Marina, one of the most attractive marina’s throughout the Costa del Sol is just next door. There is a great time to be had a night in the numerous clubs, bars and flamenco theatres, as well as the ambience of the Paseo Maritimo with terraces where you can enjoy a drink listening to good music. There are many festivals in Torremolinos and one of the most important is Tourist Day held on the first day of September to acknowledge the faithfulness shown towards Torremolinos as a holiday destination. Mijas Costa has a successful tourist industry thanks to its many fine beaches and numerous golf courses. Riviera del Sol and Calahonda are located in Mijas Costa and they are very popular urbanisations with good connections to the airport and some fantastic prices in new and resale property.

The town of Estepona has converted itself into a high standing tourist centre thanks to its magnificent beaches, which boast the blue banner, may services and facilities and a privileged location between the sea and the mountains. Adjacent to Estepona is Manilva, it is the most westerly coastal village in the province of Malaga, bordering Cadiz. The local restaurants are dedicated to serving an extensive selection of fish cooked in many different ways, you can savour these dishes whilst contemplating the peaceful sea in Castillo de la Duquesa, a small sea orientated urban nucleus in this most exquisite location with the area. Manilva is a typical Andalusian village and with its 8 km long peaceful beach it makes this area a must to visit or to purchase property in. Duquesa town is located a short distance from Manilva and has a wonderful Marina with golf courses surrounding the area.

Nerja, Torre del Mar and Torrox along with many other small villages on the East of Malaga are also included in our property listing, this property is typically Spanish with apartments, village houses, villas and plots on sale. These villages are located in beautiful surroundings some close to the coastline and some a little inland, but all close to amenities or a larger town with amenities. The beaches along this stretch of coastline and clean and sandy, there are also several golf courses with more being constructed, there is a marina at Caleta de Velez and two Natural Parks, Sierra Tejeda and Almijara.
