Why Invest in Malta

  • Malta is a popular tourist destination, for Britons and Italians in particular, though most are older people or families rather than clubbers; many retired people spend the winter there
  • Malta has a double Taxation Agreement with most Western Countries and these generally ensure that a move to Malta results in tax advantages. Pensions are freely transferable to Malta as well as Reciprocal Health Agreements resulting in treatment at nominal cost.

  • There is a sizeable community of foreign residents, mainly British and Continentals, who are warmly welcomed by the Maltese people, most of whom speak English. Integration in the local social and cultural scene is easy.

  • The safest investment on the Maltese islands is property. The Maltese property market is totally different from any other, in that so far we never had a drop in the value of property but a stead capital growth of between 10 - 15% per annum (refer to graph below), naturally this is dependent on the property type and location. Also you have to appreciate that there is limited stocks and shares market, therefore the majority of Maltese invest in property.

  • It is an Island therefore property market is dictated by the limited amount of land. Malta is one of the most densely populated countries in the world, with about 1,265 inhabitants per square kilometer (3,000/mi²)
