Montenegro is a country with so much to offer
Montenegro has been described as having "so much to offer" visitors after it was included on a list of top European destinations for those who do not want to break the bank.
US based consumer website SmarterTravel.com claims that for many Americans, part of the country's appeal is that it is seen as being relatively "undiscovered" in comparison to more famous and expensive western European resorts.
However, the company warns that the location is unlikely to remain a secret for a long time because of its "miles of beaches to mountains, glacial lakes and pristine forests".
The company states: "Though a concerted effort to improve the infrastructure is in full swing, the tourism industry is still rough around the edges, which can be a boon for travellers on a budget looking to explore the country and appreciate the natural beauty before getting priced out."
Recently, Tivat Airport in Montenegro reported booming levels of traffic, with annual passenger numbers expected to reach the 500,000 mark later this year.
