Extension of Bulgaria’s Bansko Ski Runs

A leading world consultant, Paul Mathews, prepared the project for re-arrangement and enlargement of Bulgaria’s Bansko ski runs and the surrounding areas, the company concessionaire of the resort, Ulen, announced this week.
Mathews’s company Ecosign has so far prepared such projects for more than 140 ski resorts worldwide, including the winter Olympic games’ hosts in 2010 and 2014 - Canadian Vancouver and Russian Sochi.
In the first half of 2007 Ulen invested 4 million leva in sustainable and nature-friendly development at the resort. They now plan to invest 1 million leva in this new project.
Ulen said that the restoration programmes are co-ordinated with leading specialists from the Environment and Water Affairs Ministry and the National Park Pirin.
This year, Bansko will host the Women’s Alpine skiing European Cup competitions. In 2008 it will also host the Men’s European Cup competitions.
