EUR 508 million from tourism and related branches
World Tourism and Travel Council (WTTC) estimates Montenegro will generate EUR 508.2 million this year from tourism and related branches of economy. WTTC expects this amount to reach EUR 1.8 million by 2017, based on the overall demand. It is estimated the overall demand will increase by 15.2 percent this year, and the annual growth between 2008 and 2017 will be 10.7 percent.
The share of tourism and related branches in Montenegro’s GDP will be 10.2 percent or EUR 189.4 million, and will nominally grow to EUR 605.4 million or 16.4 percent of GDP by 2017. Together with China and India, Montenegro tops the list of 174 countries for the fourth straight year, thanks to the sustainable development of tourism industry, focused development strategy and aimed investments.
